BGB WIN LSC EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR YOUNG APPRENTICESHIPS IN ENGINEERING 2008
On 28th February BGB Engineering won the LSC Employer of the Year Award for Young Apprenticeships in Engineering 2008. Held at The Lawn in Lincoln, BGB were also finalist in the 'Large Employer of the Year Award for Apprenticeships.'
The Employer of the Year Award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate employers' commitment to the development of young people. Three awards are given in this category: Entry to Employment, Young Apprenticeship And Apprenticeship. Judges looked for entrants that can demonstrate commitment to training and supporting young people.
BGB won the award due to their focus on young talented students and their help to develop young people into full-time apprentices. Over the last year BGB have given a group of 5 students on the Young Apprenticeships Scheme 2000 hours of training (400hrs individually). "We are assessed on the commitment of the company to offer such a valuable resource of time as well as the facilities to train and develop these young people" Bill Hemingway - BGBs Quality Manager. "These young people coming through schemes such as these are the life-blood of our company and for the Engineering industry in general, so we always try to keep one step ahead when it comes to training and development."
The winner of the Young Apprentice Award, James Shaw had recently finished his time with BGB as one of the group of 5 students on the Young Apprenticeships scheme and has now applied to start a full time apprenticeship with the company.
