BGB WIN EAST MIDLANDS MEDIUM EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD 50-249 EMPLOYEES 2008
On 20th May BGB Engineering won the 'East Midlands Medium Employer of the Year Award', hosted by the LSC East Midlands. The awards evening celebrated the achievements of young people and employers involved in Apprenticeship programmes.
The Employer of the Year Award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate employers' commitment to the development of young people. The awards recognise the best in the region as well as highlighting the contribution that all apprentices and their employers are making to their regional economies and communities.
BGB got involved with Apprenticeships as a way of sustaining company growth in an industry lacking skilled people resource. "The focussed approach we are taking towards apprentice recruitment and YA training (Young Apprentices 14-16yr old) is very positive. Its great to see that our commitment has been recognised and rewarded by this prestigious award", said Bill Hemingway - BGB Training Manager.
The East Midlands award is a follow on from the county prize BGB won back in March (see news item: BGB WIN LSC EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD) and also the “Investors in Education” award, (also received in March) for demonstrating its commitment to working in partnership with Lincolnshire & Rutland schools.
Having won the Regional final, BGB are now put through to the National LSC “Employer of the Year” awards due to be held in London in July.
