BGB WIN MAJOR UK AWARD

BGB Engineering scooped the much sought after 'MX2006 Manufacturing Excellence Award for People Effectiveness' at last nights event (29th June 06) at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.  Organised by The Institute of Mechanical Engineering, BGB fought off major UK manufacturers such as Siemens, Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare and Sulzer Pumps to win the much coveted prize.

The black tie event in London is described by the DTI Minister of State of Industry and the Regions, Margaret Hodge MP, as “The most prestigious event in the manufacturing calendar.”  

A total of 16 companies made it through to the finals, ranging in size from giants of international business and industry to small start-up companies. The awards were hosted by Rt. Hon. William Hague MP who entertained the audience with his witty political anecdotes.

The basis of the competition was a complex audit form, devised by the manufacturing experts at the Warwick Manufacturing Group, in which companies benchmark their own performance. High scoring performers were then visited by a team of independent assessors to verify the scores, and finalists also made a presentation before a judging panel of experienced manufacturing people. The award ceremony was to congratulate the finalists and reward the overall winners of the different categories.

BGB were shocked and delighted they had won such a prestigious award in only their first year of entering. Managing Director David T Holt said, "It's a fabulous achievement for the company to be recognised as a Centre of Manufacturing Excellence and is a great reward for the fantastic attitude and work ethic the employees have at BGB."

The accolade is reward for the world-class way in which BGB operates, rewards its staff and maximises the efforts of their employees and now means they can truly call themselves a ‘Centre of Engineering Excellence’.
