Bow Thruster systems provide the thrust required to support the steering and manoeuvrability of the ship or large marine vessel such as a mega yacht or a container ship.  We have provided large slip ring assemblies to companies such as Van der Velden who manufacture marine propulsion manoeuvring systems for vessels, ships or yachts.  In an azimuth thruster the propeller rotates 360° around the vertical axis so the unit provides propulsion, steering and positioning thrust for superior manoeuvrability. Azimuth thrusters, also called Azipods (ABB brand name) or Azimuthing, are propellers mounted in a pod that provides thrust and steering by rotating the unit horizontally.

Alongside our slip ring solutions, we can also offer shaft grounding systems to electrically ground the ship’s propeller to the hull, this minimises stern area corrosion and current-induced damage to the propeller shaft bearings and gearboxes for the propeller.
