UL Recognition for BGB’s Wind Industry Slip Ring

UL Recognition for BGB’s Wind Industry Slip Ring

Monday, 16 August 2021

BGB has worked with UL to obtain independent third-party, science-backed recognition for a 3 way slip ring solution developed for the wind industry.  BGB’s slip ring achieved UL recognition in the ZGFN2 category for "Wind Turbine Generating System Components”, which helps to demonstrate a scientific approach to confirming the specific wind turbine slip ring.  BGB is one of only two companies currently listed (the other being ABB) in the wind components category, to have achieved this highly sought-after recognition.

"This is a massive achievement for BGB, and shows our continued commitment to our customers and industries we serve to ensure the highest standards of quality are consistently met.  It gives me great pride to see we are the only slip ring manufacturer to achieve this recognition in the wind industry, and is testament to the continued efforts made by our teams to maintain the standards necessary to achieve such a recognition from an independent body.  Whilst this is currently associated with our wind industry products, the same level of engineering and quality is applied to all BGB solutions, irrespective of industry application.” said Nick Herbert,  BGB Sales Director.

BGB’s step into UL recognition highlights the dedication towards ensuring product quality and safety stay at the forefront of the solutions they offer.

What is UL Recognized?
UL Component Recognition means that UL has evaluated components or materials intended for use in a complete product or system. These components are intended only for end-use products that may be eligible for UL certification.

What is UL approval?
UL stands for Underwriter Laboratories, a third-party certification company that’s been around for over a century. UL was founded in 1894 in Chicago. They certify products with the aim to make the world a safer place for both workers and consumers. Besides testing, they set industry standards to follow when innovating new products. Last year alone, about 14 billion products with the UL seal entered the global marketplace.
