One of the most interesting and exciting industries we have supplied slip rings and Fibre Optic Rotary Joints to is the media and film sector.  With power, signal, high data rates and media required to pass through a rotating platform, FORJs and slip rings play an integral part in some of the most unlikely of places.

One of our most memorable applications was designing and supplying a custom-built BGB slip ring assembly designed to create a memorable fight scene in the Hollywood blockbuster film 'Inception' (starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Dileep Rao, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, and Michael Caine).  The large slip ring assembly was part of a huge rotating structure that physically turned 360 degrees, turning a specially made film set replicating a hotel hallway and room for a fight scene between the actors. Another notable project we've worked on with our clients include an interesting application involving our Fibre Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) and a very large mechanical crane structure display at the music festival Glastonbury.  Our FORJ (Fibre Optic Rotary Joint) coupled with network switches and Wave-Division Multiplexing cards were used for transporting lighting control and communications data across a network without any dropped packets.  The FORJ unit was instrumental in the large crane structure allowing large data and signals to be sent along the fibre cable.
