Work Experience Employer of the Year for 2019-20

Tuesday, 21 July 2020

We are very proud to announce that BGB has been awarded "Work Experience Employer of the Year for 2019-20" by Grantham College.

"This award acknowledges and demonstrates the college's appreciation for BGB’s strong commitment to supporting our students with high-quality work experience." stated Caroline Kearsey - Work Experience Coordinator at Grantham College.

BGB prides itself in the work it does in the surrounding area and working with the future generations to encourage them into an engineering career. "Apprentices are the life-blood of engineering firms like us, our pedigree is second-to-none and we can go way back to the early 1980's when BGB first focussed on bringing through apprentices and even now we have 'senior' engineers and managers who originally came through from the then YTS schemes", said James Tupper, BGB Marketing Manager.

Back in February this year, BGB opened its doors to 2 young apprentices, one of which - Josh Hyatt(pictured), wrote a letter of appreciation to BGB after a week's work placement saying, "My placement week at BGB was a great experience.I was exposed to the whole process: from seeing the raw materials being collected from the stores, to watching them being machined into precision components and then the parts being packaged carefully ready for dispatch...Thank you to everyone at BGB – I had a really interesting and enjoyable week."

"Placements allow BGB’s behaviours to shine, they are the foundation that underpin everything we do, this award demonstrates our value ‘in your shoes’ we are able to allow hands on engineering experience in a safe environment. We make their time onsite interesting & enjoyable, providing advice and inspiring the next generation. We are proud to be recognised for this." Breeze Rowlands, BGB QHSE Specialist.

The award will be presented to BGB in August (observing all social distancing rules) at the Dysart Road Head Office by the college’s Head of Curriculum for Engineering, Theresa Cope.
